Kj's Genesis, Inc. is a non-profit agency focused on creating Autism Awareness within our communities and assisting conglomerate agencies with becoming more user-friendly to the sensory challenges of this community. We do this through the avenues of advocacy, Autism Awareness events, education, and by creating “spaces and places” that are conducive for the development of this population.

My name is Cynthia Yancey. I have worked as a Behavioral Specialist Consultant, Clinical Coordinator and Administrator within the Behavioral Health Arena for over 20 years with the goal in mind of increasing the quality of life for children on the Spectrum as well as other people with mental health diagnoses. In 2008, I gave birth to an amazing son, whose name is KJ. KJ was born with several medical challenges, and by 2011, he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I can honestly say that functioning as a professional for my clients versus parenting my child are two different worlds. However, it is the passion that I have carried as a professional as well as my deep compassion for my son and families like our own, that has fueled my desire to spawn this agency.

 

By providing information, resources and education to our community, it heightens awareness for children such as mine, and it also allows for people to interact with them from an informed perspective. To take it a step further, we educate and inform conglomerate agencies of the sensitivities associated with Autism, as well as assist them in becoming more sensory-friendly. This allows for our communities and our society to recognize the need for adaptation and adjustment on a global level.
